Education Development Center (EDC) is a leader in international programs and research. Established in 1958, EDC designs, delivers and evaluates innovative programs to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and economic opportunity. EDC expects to have an increasing presence in Tanzania and is looking for exceptionally qualified and committed individuals with the below qualifications for an anticipated child labor elimination program in Tanzania.
Livelihood Specialist: The Livelihoods Specialist will be responsible for providing leadership in developing the technical aspects of the program related to sustainable livelihood interventions, including household economic strengthening, identifying rural and micro-finance or other savings and loans programs as part of an integrated livelihoods program to reduce the incidence of child labor and enhance livelihoods in the agriculture and domestic service sectors.
Qualifications: • Minimum of three years of experience in a leadership position responsible for developing livelihood interventions and the technical aspects related to the proposed strategy, including skills training, micro-lending, micro-savings, employment generation, alternative/additional income generation, youth employment and social protection. • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. • Experience in projects promoting livelihoods interventions. • Understanding of child labor issues, including youth employment. • Experience working successfully with government agencies and private organizations engaged in promoting improved livelihoods for households and the provision of social protection services. • Experience working with employers' organizations, trade unions or other civil society organizations. • Strong skills in financial management, writing, monitoring and evaluation required. • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required, proficiency in Kiswahili preferred.
