GRANT PROPOSAL WRITER
I. Job Purpose:
The Grant Writer is primarily responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, and will persuasively communicate
AYB-SD's mission and programs to potential funders. Reporting to the Social Marketing Manager, the Grant Writer will assemble and submit grant requests according to projects designed with AYB-SD’s different programs units, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.
II. Reports to: Social Marketing Manager.
III. Supervises: None.
IV. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations and corporate sources.
• Developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations.
• Assembling and submitting grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations.
• Establishing and maintaining personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts and program officers.
• Maintaining calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.
• Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental materials required for proposals.
• Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.
• Make appointments for Social Marketing Manager with foundation officers and other prospects, as well as arranging onsite visits for donors
• Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
• Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.
• Build and Maintain Strong relationships with all the departments and programs of AYB-SD.
• Maintain proper coordination and accurate dissemination of information with all the internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate with all stakeholders to make sure that projects proposals and its relevant activities meet the expected deadlines.
• Regular follow up on projects being implemented to make sure that they are aligned to the proposed timeline and implementation plan.
• Closely work with Monitoring and Communication department to extract all information needed in grant proposal writing.
• Coordinate the fund transfer process with the different stakeholders in a timely manner.
V. Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• University Degree.
• Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
• Strong editing skills.
• Attention to details.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
• Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.
• Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
• Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research.
• Strong contributor in team environments.
• Very strong interpersonal skills.
• Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• A record of volunteer experience.
• Good knowledge of English & Arabic.
• Very good knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. In addition to being able to carry out Internet research and type both Arabic and English.
Experience
• Minimum of 2-3 years experience with grant writing.
• Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.
• Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
VI. Working Conditions and Compensation:
• Working days: Sunday to Thursday 09:00 – 17:00
• Location: AYB-SD head office in Maadi.
