Requirements: Islamic Relief covers projects in Asia, Middle East and Africa. We are currently recruiting for two Head of Region positions. Reporting to the International Programme Director, the person will be responsible to develop and deliver IRW regional portfolio of programme work to maximise IRW impact on realising the rights of vulnerable groups and to contribute to IRW global impact. S/he will be expected to work closely with their team members; develop and maintain personal links with external relevant senior regional representatives in donors, UN bodies, other NGOs etc and to represent IRW on relevant issues in international and UK media as required. S/he will be assisted by a team of Country Directors/Representatives; Regional Programme Managers; Head of Missions in the region and Regional Desk Coordinators in HQ.
It is essential that the successful candidate to have a postgraduate Degree in a relevant discipline with substantial experience of working with an INGO in the capacity as a Head of Region or Regional Director. S/he will also need to have knowledge of effective budgetary control and grant management at regional level; developing countries in rehabilitation, development and emergency contexts. Excellent written and spoken English is required and second language would be desirable.
