  • 3 month role starting late January 2017 with potential extension
  • Based in Beirut with potential for travel within the region
  • Protection, Gender & Inclusion (with a focus on SGBV) role supporting IFRC's regional, and Syria Crisis response activities
  • Specific responsibility for scoping and designing new program activities in response to funding opportunities

Australian Red Cross are looking for a Protection, Gender and Inclusion professional with a strong background in Sexual and Gender Based Violence to support the IFRC Regional Gender and Diversity Advisor to strengthen the Red Cross and Red Crescent operations in the MENA region, with particular focus on the Syria Crisis. The delegate will provide technical support to IFRC and National Societies for the integration and mainstreaming of protection, gender and inclusion considerations across sectors including health and WASH. In particular, the delegate will provide technical support and guidance to National Societies in Jordan and Lebanon and IFRC MENA office regarding strategies and program approaches to prevent, mitigate and respond to SGBV. There will also have some responsibility for supporting the implementation of IFRC's child protection policy.

In addition to these responsibilities, the delegate will work with IFRC, National Societies, and Australian Red Cross to scope and design a funding submission in response to the anticipated funding opportunities. The design work should focus upon enhancing protection, gender and inclusion via education and livelihoods programs.
