Habitat’s volunteers, like our National Organizations (NOs) and partner families, come from around the world and represent a growing dedicated and diverse group of individuals focused on Habitat’s mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. As the Volunteer Program Manager, you develop strategies, plans and profiles for Habitat’s area volunteer program, targeting partner organizations, corporations and socially conscious churches located within the Asia/Pacific (AP) region to partner with Habitat NOs as we address poverty housing. You are adept at identifying potential allies and partners with a common interest to address poverty housing in a holistic and sustainable manner. You are energetic with an instinctual capacity to mobilize volunteers into action and further develop lasting relationships between NOs and volunteers.

Based at our Area Office, located in Manila, Philippines, you will report to the Sr. Director of Operations for the Asia/Pacific area and manage direct reports. Additionally, this position will require significant travel – perhaps up to 25% within the region. As a key member of the AP Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to other strategic decisions that affect the direction of Habitat for Humanity International within the AP region.

The Volunteer Program Manager directly partners with the National Offices and internal Area Office departments in the development and growth of our volunteer management capacity and systems. As the Volunteer Program Manager, you will identify integrate volunteer opportunities and events that highlight the housing crisis and encourage personal involvement. Strong project management skills are required as you will provide the overall coordination and management for implementing special builds in AP; ensuring effective project planning, execution and management of AP special builds. These special builds require great coordination efforts involving the host country, the sending countries that outlay the funds, in addition to other affiliates and departments with the Habitat framework. Habitat for Humanity (Asia/Pacific) mobilizes thousands of youth to in coordinated youth builds, fund raising events, and other efforts to further advocate for Habitat – the Volunteer Program Manager will develop the HFH Youth Programs to cultivate the next generation of leaders for the region.

DUTIES/AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Volunteer Program Manager’s purpose is to provide the following 3 items:
Meaningful participation in programmatic initiatives
A change in perspective on the part of the volunteer, helping them understand the scale of the housing crisis and related issues and converting them to ‘housing advocates’
To create supporters of Habitat for Humanity’s network of organizations worldwide

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years in Volunteer Development for non-profit and/or NGO’s
Demonstrated experience in implementing a successful volunteer development program and proven record of success in raising funds through such programs
Experience in developing partnerships with volunteer-oriented organizations, including churches
Field experience in managing volunteer programs
Bachelor’s degree required Demonstrated strong Training and mentoring/coaching skills
English fluency (both written and spoken)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters preferred
Knowledge of Asia/Pacific language beneficial
Solid understanding of partnership development, government relations and advocacy
