By mid-2013 most of our international programmes will be delivered through a merged operation with 14 000 staff, managed through seven regional hubs and reporting to a relatively small, central office. The role
Develop, mentor and strengthen the capacity and expertise of the nutrition staff in the field offices especially the Health and Nutrition Officer (HNO) in Niamey.
Provide strategic technical support to the country programme and technical support to managers in the field offices through the HNO.
Support the quality, design, delivery of the nutrition strategy and representation of Save the Children’s Nutrition programming.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
· Post graduate or equivalent field experience in nutrition or related field
· 2-5 years experience at international level in technical support and/or programme management
· Experience in capacity building/mentoring
· Clear commitment to, and experience of, developing and coaching staff, combined with the ability to give direct actionable feedback.
· Direct experience of planning, implementing and measuring the impact of hunger reduction or other related programmes
· Inter-personal skills to empower field and other nutrition staff managers in identifying capacity building and training needs opportunities,
· Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
· Ability to speak and write clear English and French (French being the working language in Niger).
· Ability to travel to the field.
Desirable:
· Experience of Save the Children’s programme.
