Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking an ingenious, accomplished, and clever Communications Coordinator to guide the strategic direction for external communication of the Africa and the Middle East (AME) area office’s plans and accomplishments. Habitat is seeking a communications expert that will not only develop effective strategies to enhance the HFH brand in the AME region but also cultivate new area wide and regional communication partnerships and position HFH AME as the housing expert/leader in AME.

This past year, we celebrated the completion of our 500,000th home in Kenya and we continue to grow and expand throughout the AME region and throughout the world. To accomplish our exciting vision of “A world where everyone has a decent place to live”, Habitat needs an individual who can guide the strategic planning process for regional and area wide approaches to communications and public relations needs, a candidate that can analyze and report on communication impact, someone with the drive and interest in telling Habitat’s compelling story. In short, Habitat is searching for that special candidate who wants to use their enthusiasm, their expertise in PR & Communications, and their conviction and desire to make a difference in the world around them to accomplish our goal of reaching those in need of decent, affordable housing.

The role will be primarily focused on supporting our Area Office, National Organizations, and Branches by:
Mentoring and developing emerging talent among HFH AME entities.
Meeting annual communications targets assigned
Functioning as an executive contact in key partnerships and prospects throughout the region
Enhancing the HFHI brand in the area through strategic communication initiatives with National Organizations and ensuring consistent messaging of brand and logo
Developing relationships with external media sources to ensure that partnerships are aligned with the AME strategies and objectives

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 3-5 years English-language journalism experience (preferably in a newsroom environment)
Bachelor’s degree
Strong business presentation skills
Strong English language writing and editing skills, preferably developed in a news media environment
Ability to see a news angle, and to judge and prioritize information of significance for publicizing Habitat's activities
Research skills, and clear reasoning and organizational skills
Exceptional attention to detail required
Solid Computer and MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) skills
