Job Title: Emergency Food Security & Vulnerable Livelihoods (EFSVL) Officer
Location: Kibondo and Kasulu, Tanzania
Contract Type: Fixed term contract (3 months)

Reports to: EFSVL Manager
Who We Are
Oxfam in Tanzania (OiTZ) helps people in communities in very tangible ways: improving food security and livelihoods, reducing gender-based violence, increasing women’s economic and political participation; and working with pastoralist communities. OXFAM responded in May 2015 to the influx of Burundi refugees with initial activities in emergency water supply, sanitation and health promotion services. In October 2015 emergency food security for vulnerable livelihoods activities were started.
To achieve this, OXFAM seeks to recruit suitably qualified Tanzania Nationals to fill in the position for Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable Livelihoods (EFSVL) Officers one to be based in Kibondo and the other one in Kasulu districts of Kigoma region.
Key Responsibilities
-
Perform assessments, data collection and to verify data collected in the field
-
Data entry and experience with Excel, other database programmes
-
Participate
in the design of project and programme activities, Support EFSVL
Manager in project planning and implementation requirements
-
Work
closely with partners, community members and local government to
implement food security and livelihood activities, including but not
limited to:
-
Support beneficiary verification and registration;
-
Community-level sensitisation/awareness to communities about activities’ objectives
-
Support organisation of and arrangements for distributions
-
Perform post-distribution monitoring activities and longer-term monitoring
-
Design, draft or adapt tools for use in programme activities with support from the Manager
-
Support technical training sessions when relevant/appropriate
-
Produce
weekly or bi-weekly progress reports against an agreed work plan,
monitor partner progress and support EFSVL Manager in overall project
monitoring and reporting

Support market mapping and analysis activities
-
Coordinate and collaborate with partner organisations, local authorities, and with other agencies
-
Utilize self learning and identification of relevant learning opportunities to improve EFSVL knowledge and skills

Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Skills and Competencies
Essential:
-
Bachelor degree in agriculture, economics, rural development, community development or any relevant field.
-
Minimum two years in similar positions/experience (programme support, field-experience)
-
Good
communication skills, ability to convey complex information in a
straightforward, interesting way (strong English and Kiswahili).
-
Ability to speak Kiha/Kirundi is an added advantage
-
Attention to detail and critical analysis.
-
Experience in data entry and database management (Excel)
-
Experience conducting assessments and supporting analysis of results
-
Strong
interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working
relations with multicultural and multi ethnic teams, including working
with partner organisations
-
Good organizational and communication skills with international and national staff.
-
Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
-
Experience and commitment to promote equity, gender and diversity
Desirable:
-
Previous working experience with international/non-profit organizations.
-
Experience in emergency and early recovery programmes.
-
Mature and professional attitude and approach
