Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Syria, under the direct supervision of Deputy FAOR, and in close collaboration of projects and programme management, operations staff and M&E unit, the consultant will carry out the following tasks:

· Ensure proper documentation of the experience of FAO assistance through its country programme and operations. In this regard, the consultant prepares and/or edits reports and ensures timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, progress and annual reports for FAO and donors, in compliance with the Organization’s rules and guidance;

· Work closely with RNE and HQ reporting and communication officers to ensure coherence of FAO Syria programme and operations reporting

· In consultation with technical teams, coordinate programme reporting and the process for obtaining clearances of reports and ensure timely submission of the same;

· In consultation with relevant technical teams and other stakeholders, support the preparation of project and programme documents, concept notes and appeals for submission to donors and/or development partners for funding/resources mobilization;

· On request, prepare/review donor correspondence, briefs and talking points to ensure alignment with key organizational rules and strategies;

· Support coordination and liaison with donors and other UN partners on programmatic issues and strategies;

· Update and maintain a reporting schedule for all operations in the FAO Syria portfolio;

· Liaise with the communications officer for publication of visibility and information/communication materials. Similarly, ensure use of UN, donors and other web sites for dissemination of information.

· Provide, through progress reporting, continuous analysis of the achievements facilitate project reviews, evaluations and audits.

· In close liaison with FAO monitoring and evaluation unit support related missions and ensure that projects and programmes information are made available;

· Support the Country Office by providing sound reports and useful analysis for resources mobilization from donors and other stakeholders. This will includes support in preparation for donor meetings and field visits.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and experience

· University degree, preferably advanced degree in Agriculture sciences, Public Relations, Communications, Media studies or other related field;

· At least 5 years of relevant experience in reporting, information management, public relations or media;

· Knowledge of management principles and organizational behavior;

· Knowledge of development projects and programmes;

· Ability to think clearly, precisely and articulately is essential.

· Mature judgment combined with a proactive, energetic approach to problem solving; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills; resourceful in finding solutions;

· Ability to work with a wide cross-section of partners: Government, NGOs, communities, media, UN Agencies and donors;

· Excellent computer knowledge (Ms applications: word, excel, PowerPoint);

· Fluency in oral and written English, excellent analytic and writing skills.
