The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. GAIN is a Swiss based international organization that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition. The organization is delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 700 million people in more than 30 countries, half of whom are women and children.

GAIN is working with the Government of Bangladesh and civil society organizations to set evidence-based, pro-poor policy and regulatory environments for improved nutrition in compliance with the most up-to-date international standards. GAIN’s representation and participation has been enhanced in key policy and advisory bodies including National Steering Committee on Nutrition. GAIN has successfully engaged in key national policy and legislations like; “Fortification of Edible Oil with vitamin A”, “National Micronutrient Deficiency Control Strategy and ‘’ National School Feeding and Nutrition Policy’’.

Program Assistant (Finance and Administration), Bangladesh

This position is expected to provide support to the Administration and Finance Manager/Country Manager, staff and consultants in maintaining good relationships with external stakeholders. The Program Assistant Finance and Administration will be responsible for providing day to day general finance and administrative support to our growing Bangladesh country office.

Responsibilities

· Support database and management information system (MIS) relating to finance budgets, grants management and costing and provide the required information to the HQ and program team for representation in various program and donor meetings.

· Assist with monthly closing, ensuring all transactions for the month are recorded accurately and deadlines set by GAIN headquarter are met.

· Responsible for filing of all financial transactions, including files for banking, copies of cheques, receipts from the bank and bank statements both in Bangladeshi TAKA and Dollars in consultation with the Administration & Finance Manager.

· Coordinate the organization of meetings and workshops for GAIN programs needed and requested.

· Arrange meeting rooms, disseminates meeting agendas, and where necessary takes meeting minutes.

· Organizes travel arrangements, accommodation, local transport and security advice.

· Oversee the proper upkeep and maintenance of office premises and working facilities system to provide the best possible physical environment for staff to discharge their duties.

· Ensure proper security and safety of the staff members and premises and finalize security and insurance arrangements as per GAIN norm.

· Manage the vehicle administration activity to ensure proper upkeep of Vehicles, cost optimization, proper maintenance and usage as per GAIN policies.

Experience

· Minimum 7 years documented experience (work certificates) in an administrative/Finance/Office Assistant role, preferably in an international development organization.

· Strong administrative management skills and experience; demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following areas: procurement, IT, Travel, Security, HR, Inventory and Assets Management, Accounting, Contracts and Agreements, Meetings/conference management.

Skills & Attributes

· Proactive with a commitment to quality and accuracy with close attention to detail.

· Ability to work without close supervision.

· Adaptability and flexibility.

· Ability to work in a multicultural environment in a participatory manner to achieve established goals.

· Computer literacy with excellent MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, and knowledge of Finance packages such as Quick Books would be an asset.

· Understanding the working systems of Bangladesh government is crucial.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills (English, Bengali and Regional language).

Education

· Bachelors or Masters in Commerce or Accounting.
