Livelihoods Coordinator Kampala, Uganda From GBP £24,245 net per annum (The net is a take home, Oxfam will pay any tax and social security liabilities of the post holder, in relation to employment with Oxfam, in additional to benefits).
Oxfam GB is an International NGO, which has operated in Uganda since 1963. The programme supports about 230,000 people to rebuild their livelihoods by providing essential services such as water and sanitation - and providing agricultural inputs, extension support, training and production assets to support agricultural development and other livelihoods initiatives. Oxfam aims to overcome poverty through the most effective, appropriate and enduring solutions. Oxfam's institutional mandate is therefore threefold; development work, emergency humanitarian relief work & policy advocacy work. Oxfam Uganda is currently implementing programmes in Kitgum, and North Karamoja, regions through a governance and livelihood approach. Oxfam in Uganda is also involved in prevention of gender based violence and disaster risk reduction as well as capacity building of social organizations at grass roots level. The programme has a mix of direct implementation and working with partners
The role We require a Livelihoods Coordinator to lead the management and implementation of programmes and to provide leadership to a team of four Programme Managers who manage country programmes in Karamoja, and Kitgum regions through the Governance and livelihoods approach. You will oversee the design, planning, and implementation of these programmes at a strategic level and support the Programme Management team through the national change process. You will be required to implement long-term vision and strategic planning to achieve significant impact from a major program unit. You will ensure proper reporting and accountability to multilateral and bilateral donors. You will report to the Associate Country Director and deputise as well as support him/her in institutional strengthening and managing Oxfam's relationships with key allies and partners in Uganda, including official authorities at all levels and Oxfam affiliates.
The person We are looking for a person with extensive programme development and management exposure; managing large multi-donor funding and leading change processes. You will be a natural inspirational leader with significant experience on team/people management including virtual teams. Strategic thinking, strong conceptual and analytical skills are essential. You will have proven experience of influencing policy, consulting with key stakeholders at all levels with tact and diplomacy. Knowledge and experience of promoting gender equity is required.
