Job Overview
The Payroll Administrator provides effective and efficient support to the Payroll and HR Systems Advisor for the effective functioning of the operations of the Human Resources Division. He/she is responsible for the timely and accurate input of information to the IPHRMS (Integrated Payroll and Human Resources Management System).
The incumbent provides invaluable operational and administrative support to other members of the Compensation Team. In fulfilling Payroll duties, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining controls used to balance biweekly payrolls and preparing remittances for payroll deductions.

Candidate Profile
Education
- Completion of a 2-year College Diploma in Business Administration, or Secondary School and courses in payroll or accounting
- Preference will be given to candidates who have taken the Canadian Payroll Certification Level 1 (Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification)
- Candidates who have not taken the Canadian Payroll Certification Level 1 will be considered for a lower salary level: $43,563 to $50,655
- Position requires at least one year of experience in payroll services; and
- Experience utilizing software packages such as Word, Excel, and a Human Resources Management System such as Highline.
- Bilingual (English and French) position at intermediate level.
- Knowledge and Competencies
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail
- Ability to deal with employees with tact and diplomacy
- Written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of Canada Labour Code and Income Tax Act
- Knowledge of accounting principles and payroll processing
- Ability to work under pressure and establish priorities
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter
- Discretion when dealing with personal and confidential matters
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, and willingness to learn other software
- Reliability and solid judgement
