CARE is seeking an Advocacy Social Media Coordinator. This position will play a critical part of the CARE USA Policy & Advocacy Department (PAD), whose role is to galvanize the social and political will needed to influence USG policymakers to adopt and fully implement policies that support the efforts of poor and marginalized people in the developing world to realize their rights and improve their lives.

This position will contribute to the overall digital advocacy strategy to build a large, highly engaged online audience that takes regular action and moves into offline advocacy; cultivate a new generation of CARE supporters who are politically savvy and passionate about CARE Action’s mission of ending global poverty through effective advocacy; and connect and engage with broader U.S.-based movements that are working toward social justice globally.

The Advocacy Social Media Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of an advocacy social media plan, including the creation and distribution of social media content as part of broader campaigns on our priority issues of food and nutrition security, sexual and reproductive health, women’s economic empowerment and humanitarian emergencies – all viewed through a lens of gender and women’s empowerment.

The incumbent will report to the Senior Director of Citizen Advocacy and work in cooperation with the Online Advocacy Coordinator, the CARE Action team, the Social Movements Advisor, and the rest of the PAD team to build an online grassroots movement through the continued building of CARE Action’s social media presence.

Qualifications
College Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience;
2-4 years of experience in social media communications;
Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills;
Demonstrable social networking skills and experience, including Facebook Ads, Facebook Page, Facebook Business Manager, Twitter, Twitter Ads and social media analytics tools knowledge;
Positive attitude, detail- and advocate-oriented with multitasking and organizational ability;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software.
Fluency in English.
