Malteser International, the worldwide relief agency of the Order of Malta for humanitarian aid, works in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas for people in need, regardless of their religion, origin or political affiliation. In Thailand, Malteser International has been implementing a health care program for Myanmar refugees in two refugee camps on the Thai-Myanmar border since 1993. Since then Malteser International has developed a comprehensive Primary Health Care setting with curative, preventive and promotional components. Furthermore a community based health and WASH project is implemented in the surrounding villages of the camps in Sob Moie District.

For the co-ordination of the health care program in the refugee camps in Mae Sariang, Thailand and for providing medical advice for all MI program in Thailand, Malteser International is looking for an experienced

Program Coordinator / Medical Program Coordinator

As Program Coordinator / Medical Program Coordinator you will be in charge for the management and coordination of the refugee health program and for advising the health project in the surrounding villages.

Responsibilities:
Overall coordination and supervision of the refugee health projects including personnel, fixed assets, financial assets and other resources in accordance with Malteser procedures and regulations
Ensure timely planning and implementation of program/project activities according to approved plans and budgets (monitoring of objectives as well as performance and output related indicators)
Ensure proper and regular program/project reporting according to Donor and Malteser standards (interim, final reports, monthly reports)
Monitor the evolving humanitarian situation and consider strategic and immediate responses to the same in cooperation with the Program Manager HQ
Ensure correct utilization of Malteser and Donor procurement guidelines and supply chain management forms as well as Malteser internal guidelines on HR procedures, finance (budget control, review and compliance) and administration
Represent the Malteser program/projects and build and maintain good relations with local communities, national authorities, international and national organizations represented in the target area
Maintain and adapt if necessary security and safety guidelines and ensure that all staff are informed regularly
Management and supervision of international and national staff

Qualification:
Medical Doctor degree (preferred) or Master in Public Health
Experiences in tropical medicine would be an asset
Several years working experience in humanitarian aid or development projects, minimum 4 years working experience in coordinating positions
Strong international project management skills and experience including project proposal development, logical framework, monitoring and report writing
Strong experience in working with international Donors (especially ECHO, Global Fund, etc.)
An understanding of logistics and good experience in budget management
Proven problem solving and organizational skills
Proven communication skills including the ability to effectively motivate people and to diplomatically manage the relationship with local partners, different authorities and Donors
Excellent ability to lead a team and to promote productivity in a pleasant working environment
Physical and mental strength, readiness to live in a remote environment
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Proficiency in using standard software packages

Conditions:
Start Date: as soon as possible
Duty Station: Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son Province, with frequent travel to Bangkok, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai as well as to the field (refugee camps located at the Thai-Myanmar border)
Duration of contract: 12 months (extendable)
Salary according to qualification and experience, insurance package, one flight home per year of employment
