Job Description
Establish, manage and monitor contracts and relationships with multiple
implementing partners covering the range of expertise required to
successfully implement the project and in respect of the rules and regulations
of the Organization;
Plan and coordinate all activities relating to the implementation of the project
according to the established work plan.
Undertake missions to Herat as necessary and requested for project
implementation.
Organize stakeholder meetings and capacity-building workshops in Herat and
Kabul concerning cultural heritage management.
Overview- Organize events to enhance awareness rising and project visibility both inside
and outside Afghanistan.
Liaise and facilitate consultation between the relevant government authorities
in Kabul and Herat, NGOs, private companies and local community
stakeholders as required and necessary.
Facilitate information sharing amongst stakeholders and representation of the
UNESCO project in Herat with government, the local community, NGOs and the
donor in the course of project reporting and implementation by organizing
steering committee and stakeholder meetings and through UNESCO
publications.
Advise the Afghan authorities on the preparation of a management plan for the
cultural heritage of Herat.
Assist the Office with project development and liaising with existing and
potential donors to Afghan cultural heritage.
Job Requirements
(a) Academic qualifications: a Master’s Degree or equivalent in a heritage
related field which may include archaeology, anthropology, heritage
management, conservation or architecture.
(b) Years of relevant work experience: 3-5 years’ work experience at the
international level in the heritage sector or related fields.
(c) Language requirement: Fluency in both written and oral English
